Fountain Lake Middle School students had the opportunity to learn directly from an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) educator last year, an event reported in November 2025. This visit provided middle schoolers with valuable insights into wildlife and natural resource conservation.

Educational outreach programs by the AGFC are designed to teach young people about Arkansas’s diverse ecosystems, native wildlife, and the importance of responsible outdoor practices. For students in the Fountain Lake School District, surrounded by natural beauty including Fountain Lake itself and nearby sections of the Ouachita National Forest, these lessons are particularly relevant.

Such interactions help foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for our local environment. AGFC educators often cover topics such as:
- Local wildlife identification and habitats
- The role of conservation in maintaining healthy ecosystems
- Responsible fishing, hunting, and outdoor recreation ethics
- Water quality and its impact on aquatic life
Engaging directly with experts like those from the AGFC provides students with hands-on learning experiences that complement their classroom studies, encouraging them to become stewards of Arkansas’s natural resources. It’s a wonderful way to connect our community’s youth with the rich outdoor heritage we share in Garland County.
