Anglers in the Fountain Lake and Hot Springs area should take note of new fishing regulations recently announced by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC). The updates, which affect several popular bodies of water in Garland County, are aimed at sustaining healthy fish populations and improving the overall experience for local residents.

Key changes include updated length limits for largemouth bass on Lake Hamilton and new daily creel limits for crappie on Lake Catherine. These adjustments were made based on recent biological surveys and feedback from the local angling community. “Our goal is to balance conservation needs with the recreational desires of Arkansas fishermen,” an AGFC biologist explained.

Residents are encouraged to review the 2026 Arkansas Fishing Guidebook for a complete list of changes before heading out on the water. The AGFC also reminds boaters to ensure their registrations are up to date and that all required safety equipment is on board as the busy spring fishing season gets underway.
